Fixed assets
Register assets, automate depreciation posted straight to the ledger
The cameras, laptops and studio gear your academy buys are not vanishing expenses — they are assets. Register each one once, and every month's depreciation computes and posts itself, so your books stay correct without a spreadsheet.
- Category-mapped GL accounts
- Straight-line & declining-balance
- Scheduled monthly runs
A register that keeps your books honest
Every asset you own, its current value, and the entry it posted — always in view.
From purchase to book value
An asset, depreciated correctly, in four steps
No spreadsheet, no manual journal entries — the register does the accounting for you.
Set up a category
Create a category — Vehicles, Computers, Furniture — with its three GL accounts and default useful life.
Register the asset
Add the asset, its cost and acquisition date. It inherits the category's method and life — override either if needed.
Depreciation runs itself
A monthly schedule (or your own click) computes each asset's slice and posts the entry — safe to re-run, never twice.
Dispose when it's done
Sell or scrap the asset and the register posts the gain or loss automatically, closing the book correctly.
Category-mapped accounts
Every category, wired to the right accounts
Buses and laptops depreciate differently and post to different accounts. Set each category's asset account, depreciation-expense account and accumulated-depreciation account once — every asset in it inherits the mapping automatically.
- The asset account the cost sits in
- The expense account each run debits
- The contra-asset account each run credits
- Default method, life and salvage per category
Automated depreciation
A run that posts itself — on schedule or on demand
Pick a period and run depreciation for every active asset in one click, or let the scheduled monthly close do it for you. Each asset's slice is computed, recorded and posted through the ledger — and re-running a period never double-posts.
- Manual run or scheduled monthly close
- The correct slice, per method, every time
- Idempotent — one posting per asset per period
- Only posts to an open fiscal period
Disposal
Sell or scrap it — the books close correctly
Disposing an asset removes its cost and accumulated depreciation, records the sale proceeds, and books the difference as a gain or loss — all in one posted entry. A disposed asset simply stops depreciating.
- Proceeds vs. book value, reconciled
- One entry — gain or loss, posted
- The asset stops depreciating automatically
- A full history stays on the record
Two methods, your choice
Pick the depreciation method per category
Both methods are built in — set the default on the category, override it per asset.
Equal slices, every period
The simplest, most common method: (cost − salvage) ÷ useful life, spread evenly across every period until the asset reaches salvage value.
Larger slices early, smaller later
A fixed rate applied to the current book value each period — more depreciation up front, tapering as the asset ages. Suits equipment that loses value fastest when new.
More in every register
Everything an asset register needs
The details that turn a list of purchases into real fixed-asset accounting.
Filterable register
Search and filter every asset by category, status, branch or acquisition date.
Always-current book value
Cost minus accumulated depreciation, recalculated the instant a run posts.
Scheduled monthly runs
A background command closes depreciation for the period automatically.
Branch & cost-center tagging
Tag each asset to a location and cost center for accurate allocation.
Full depreciation history
Every posted period, amount and resulting book value, per asset.
Disposal gain / loss
Sell or scrap an asset and post the correct gain or loss automatically.
Closed-period safety
A run never posts into a closed fiscal period — it skips it instead.
One-click export
Export the register and its depreciation schedule whenever you need it.

Finance teams who stopped doing depreciation by hand
Real academy finance leads on registering assets and letting the ledger take care of the rest.
We used to depreciate our studio equipment in a spreadsheet every quarter. Now it posts itself every month, and my accountant just reviews it.
Declining-balance for our laptops, straight-line for furniture — both methods, both correct, without me touching a formula.
Disposing our old cameras posted the loss automatically. I didn't have to work out the entry myself — it was just right.
Questions
What academy owners ask about fixed assets
Anything durable your academy buys and uses for more than a year — cameras, laptops, furniture, a delivery vehicle. Instead of expensing the full cost immediately, you register it as an asset and its cost is spread across its useful life as depreciation.
Straight-line (an equal slice every period) and declining-balance (a fixed rate applied to the current book value, higher early and tapering off). Set the default on the category and override it per asset if needed.
Both. Run it on demand with one click, or let the scheduled monthly command close depreciation automatically. Either way, the entry posts straight to your ledger — never by hand.
Once its book value reaches the salvage value you set, the asset is marked fully depreciated and future runs skip it automatically — it never depreciates below salvage.
Disposing an asset removes its cost and accumulated depreciation, records the sale proceeds, and posts the difference as a gain or loss in one entry. The asset is marked disposed and stops depreciating.
Yes. Each asset can only be depreciated once per fiscal period — re-running a period simply skips whatever was already posted, so the scheduled monthly run can always fire safely.
