Community forums

Discussion boards that grow a real learning community

Give every course a place to talk. Built-in community forums turn quiet students into an active community — nested boards, question-and-answer threads with staff-marked accepted answers, tags, likes and moderation, all inside your academy.

  • Nested boards, up to 7 levels
  • Q&A with accepted answers
  • Full staff moderation

A community layer built into your courses

Everything a modern discussion board needs — boards, threads, Q&A, tags and moderation — without wiring up a separate forum.

How it works

From a new board to a lively thread

A forum is four simple moves: shape the boards, let members post, let the community answer, and keep it healthy.

Step 1

Shape your boards

Create discussion boards and nest them into a tree — one board per course, subject or cohort, in every language you teach.

Step 2

Members open topics

Learners and teachers start topics — a discussion, a question or an announcement — with a rich body, tags and attachments.

Step 3

The community replies

Replies thread beneath each topic, people like the best posts, and staff mark the answer that solved a question.

Step 4

Staff keep it healthy

Publish or hold, pin, lock, feature, move or hide — one moderation surface covers every topic and reply.

Nested boards

Boards that mirror how you teach

Organize the conversation into a tree of boards up to seven levels deep — “Courses › Math › Algebra” or “Schools › Grade 10 › Homework”. Every board carries a multilingual name and description, an icon, a featured image and an accent color, and you rearrange the whole tree by dragging.

Access & audience

Decide who sees each board

Open a board to the public for organic reach, or lock it to logged-in members only. Then target exactly who it is for — students, teachers, staff, schools, universities, affiliates, everyone, or a custom mix — all resolved on the server, never trusted from the browser.

  • Public boards, or login-required
  • Target students, teachers, staff & more
  • Or a custom mix of audiences
  • Feature, spotlight or hide any board

Topics

Threads for every kind of post

Members open a topic as a discussion, a question or an announcement. Each one has a rich-text body, file attachments, free-form tags and likes — and the forum quietly tracks views, replies, likes and the latest activity so the busiest threads rise to the top.

  • Discussion, question or announcement
  • Rich body with file attachments
  • Free-form tags & popular tags
  • Views, replies, likes & last activity

Questions & answers

Turn questions into answers, marked “Solved”

Ask a question, let the community reply, then let a teacher or moderator mark the reply that solved it. The accepted answer rises to the top and the whole thread is flagged solved — so the next student finds the answer instantly.

Staff mark the accepted answer — not a popularity vote

Members like the replies that helped most

Solved threads become a searchable knowledge base

Threaded replies

Every reply, in context and under control

Replies nest one beneath another, carry rich text, attachments and likes, and show an “edited” marker when they change. A cross-thread console lists every reply on every topic in one searchable table — edit a post, change its status, or jump straight to it in its original thread.

  • Threaded, nested replies
  • Rich text, attachments & likes
  • An “edited” marker on every change
  • View any reply in its thread

Moderation

One console to keep the peace

Give your team real control. Publish or hold new posts, pin the important ones, lock heated threads, feature the best, move a topic to a better board, archive, hide or delete — on a single topic or in bulk.

Auto-publish, or route new posts to a moderation queue Post on behalf of a member when you need to Bulk-moderate many topics or replies at once Role-based permissions decide who can moderate

Tags & likes

Tags surface it, likes reward it

Members tag topics with any words that fit, and the tags people use most float up as popular tags — a living map of what your community cares about. A like is all it takes to reward a helpful post.

More in every forum

The details that keep a community running

The touches that turn a message board into a place people come back to.

Popular tags

The tags members use most rise on their own, mapping what your community talks about.

Export to Excel & PDF

Export any filtered view of topics or replies for reporting and record-keeping.

Post on behalf

Staff can post or edit as a member — the real author and the acting editor are both recorded.

Activity tracking

Views, replies, likes and last-activity are tracked per topic, so the liveliest threads surface.

Pin with auto-unpin

Stick an announcement to the top and set it to unpin itself on a date you choose.

Timely notifications

New-reply and approval notices are sent asynchronously as events fire — no noisy live polling.

Communities love it

From silent courses to buzzing boards

Educators who added a forum and watched their students start talking to each other.

Our questions used to pile up in email. Now students ask on the board, classmates answer, and we just mark the accepted answer. The same questions never come back.
Nadia H. Academy director
The nested boards match our course tree exactly, so every class has its own space. Moderation in bulk saves my team hours every week.
Karim S. Community manager
Public boards quietly bring us search traffic, and login-only boards keep our cohort discussions private. Both from the same forum.

Questions

What teams ask about the forum

Up to seven levels. You can model a full taxonomy like “Courses › Math › Algebra › Homework”, arrange the whole tree by dragging, and give each board its own name, icon, image and accent color in every language you teach.

Both — you decide per board. A board can be public for organic reach, or login-required for members only. You can also target exactly which audiences (students, teachers, staff, schools, universities, affiliates, everyone, or a custom mix) may see it.

It is not a popularity vote. Members can like the replies that helped, but a teacher or moderator marks the one reply that actually solved the question. That reply becomes the accepted answer and the topic is flagged “solved”.

Notifications such as “new reply on your topic” are sent asynchronously as events fire, through the messaging pipeline — not a live websocket feed. It keeps things timely without noisy, constant polling.

Posting is rate-limited to stop flooding, and every topic and reply body is sanitized on save — scripts and unsafe markup are stripped before anything is stored. Staff can also hold new posts in a moderation queue.

Moderation is governed by role-based permissions. Each action — publish, pin, lock, feature, move, mark solved, delete, export — is a separate permission you grant per role, so only the right people can do each one.
